You deserve to feel heard—and understand your options

When changes in sleep, temperature comfort, sexual health, or daily well-being leave you with questions, a personal conversation can be a meaningful first step.

At 401 Medical Center, we look at your symptoms in the context of your overall health. A hormone consultation can help you understand whether treatment is appropriate and how pellet therapy compares with other options.

Start with answers. Build a plan around what matters to you.

What are hormone pellets?

Pellets are small hormone-containing implants placed beneath the skin during an office procedure. They release medication over time, reducing the need for daily dosing of that hormone. The medication, duration, and follow-up depend on the specific product and your prescription.

Convenience is one consideration. Once inserted, a pellet dose cannot be adjusted as readily as a pill, patch, or gel, so careful selection and monitoring matter.

ADDITIONAL SEXUAL-HEALTH SERVICES

O-Shot and P-Shot consultations

Bring your sexual-health questions to a private consultation. Our homepage lists these platelet-rich plasma (PRP) procedures separately from hormone pellets. PRP is prepared from a sample of your own blood; it is not hormone replacement therapy.

O-Shot • Women

A PRP procedure offered for discussion of female sexual-health concerns. Your clinician will explain the proposed approach, alternatives, and the limits of the evidence.

$50 initial consultation
$750 treatment

P-Shot • Men

A PRP procedure offered for discussion of male sexual-health concerns. Evaluation should consider possible causes and established treatment options before any decision.

$50 initial consultation
$750 treatment

Understand the evidence: PRP for sexual function remains investigational, and improvement in desire, sensation, orgasm, or erections is not established or guaranteed. The Sexual Medicine Society of North America’s 2026 position recommends PRP for erectile dysfunction only in approved clinical trials.

Using your own blood does not make an injection risk-free. Discuss pain, bleeding, bruising, infection, and other procedure-specific risks with your clinician. Confirm what the fee includes, follow-up, and whether treatment is appropriate before proceeding.

A conversation that starts with you

Menopause symptoms

Hot flashes, night sweats, or vaginal symptoms may prompt a discussion about hormone and nonhormonal treatment options.

Questions about low testosterone

For men, symptoms alone do not establish testosterone deficiency. Diagnosis requires an appropriate evaluation and consistently low levels.

Changes in daily well-being

Fatigue, poor sleep, and changes in desire have many possible causes. We consider the full picture before recommending treatment.

These are reasons to seek an evaluation, not proof of a hormone problem or a promise that pellets will relieve every symptom.

Your care, step by step

01 • UNDERSTAND

Review your health

Discuss symptoms, medications, medical history, and goals. Your provider determines which examination or lab tests are useful.

02 • DECIDE

Compare the options

Review the specific hormone and product, expected benefits, risks, cost, and alternatives before deciding whether pellets fit your care.

03 • FOLLOW THROUGH

Monitor your response

If prescribed, receive insertion and aftercare instructions, with follow-up to assess symptoms, side effects, and testing when indicated.

Know the product. Make an informed choice.

Hormone pellets are not all the same. Some testosterone pellet products are FDA approved for specific indications in men. Compounded hormone pellets are not FDA approved, and their safety, effectiveness, and quality are not reviewed by FDA before marketing.

“Bioidentical” describes a hormone’s chemical structure; it does not mean a product is safer or more effective. ACOG recommends FDA-approved menopausal hormone treatments over compounded preparations when suitable approved options are available, and recommends alternatives to testosterone pellets for women.

Your provider should explain exactly what is being prescribed and why, including any compounded or off-label use.

Frequently asked questions

What happens during insertion?

The area is numbed, a small skin opening is made, and the pellets are placed under the skin. Your clinician explains the insertion location, wound care, and temporary activity restrictions. Bruising, soreness, bleeding, infection, or a pellet coming through the skin can occur.

How long do pellets last?

Pellets generally deliver medication over months, but the interval varies by product, dose, and individual response. Your provider confirms timing rather than relying on a fixed calendar alone.

When will I notice a change?

Response depends on the diagnosis, medication, and individual. There is no guaranteed timeline or result. Follow-up helps determine whether treatment is meeting your goals.

Who needs extra caution?

Share any history of blood clots, stroke, heart disease, hormone-sensitive cancer, liver disease, unexplained bleeding, pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Testosterone may reduce sperm production, so fertility plans matter. Some conditions make hormone therapy unsuitable.

What side effects should I discuss?

Risks depend on the hormone and dose. Possible effects include acne, hair changes, breast tenderness, bleeding changes, or mood changes. Testosterone can raise red blood cell levels and blood pressure; some voice or hair changes in women may be lasting. Your provider will review product-specific risks and monitoring.

Are pellets an anti-aging or weight-loss treatment?

Pellets should not be presented as a guaranteed way to lose weight, reverse aging, or prevent disease. Treatment should address an appropriate clinical indication with realistic goals.

What will it cost?

Male pellet treatment is $545 every 6 months; female pellet treatment is $325 every 3 months. Confirm with our team whether consultation, testing, and follow-up are included. Insurance coverage varies. You can also explore Cherry financing; approval, service eligibility, and terms vary.
