A careful evaluation comes first

In men, low testosterone is diagnosed from compatible symptoms and consistently low blood levels, typically confirmed with two early-morning tests. Symptoms alone do not establish a diagnosis; other conditions can cause similar concerns.

Your concerns

Talk about changes in sexual health, energy, or other symptoms that matter to you.

Your history

Review medications, sleep, medical conditions, previous treatment, and fertility plans.

Your next step

Discuss laboratory findings, possible causes, and whether treatment or another approach fits.

What are testosterone injections?

They are a prescription form of testosterone replacement. For appropriately diagnosed men, treatment may improve selected symptoms of testosterone deficiency. Benefits vary and require follow-up.

Your provider will discuss the proposed medication, dose, administration, alternatives, and monitoring. Ask what improvement is realistic and how the decision to continue treatment will be reviewed.

A plan includes the follow-through

Evaluate

Bring your health history, medication list, prior laboratory results, and questions.

Decide together

Review potential benefits, risks, costs, and practical details before starting.

Review & monitor

Ongoing assessment may include symptoms, testosterone levels, blood counts, blood pressure, and prostate assessment when appropriate.

Questions worth asking

Could testosterone affect fertility?

Yes. Testosterone treatment can suppress sperm production. Tell your provider before treatment if you want children now or in the future, so alternatives can be discussed.

What risks should I understand?

Risks vary by product and your health. They may include increased blood pressure, elevated red blood cell counts, acne, fluid retention, injection-site reactions, and worsening of certain existing conditions. Review the medication’s full safety information with your provider.

Is treatment appropriate for everyone?

No. Certain conditions, including some prostate or breast cancers, elevated blood counts, and untreated severe sleep apnea, may make treatment unsuitable. A provider must assess your individual circumstances.

How often are injections given?

The schedule depends on the medication and individual prescription. Ask about visit frequency, administration arrangements, laboratory timing, and follow-up before starting.

Will it improve energy or sexual health?

Response varies. These concerns can have several causes, so an evaluation matters. Agree on treatment goals and a review plan with your provider.

What does it cost?

Contact the clinic for current injection pricing and an estimate of evaluation, laboratory, and follow-up costs. Pellet pricing is separate from injection pricing.
