What is dermaplaning?
A trained professional uses a specialized blade to remove surface skin cells and fine facial hair. This can leave the skin feeling smoother and looking refreshed. Hair removal is temporary; the hair grows back.
Dermaplaning is a surface treatment, distinct from microneedling and deeper resurfacing procedures. Ask the team whether it fits your concerns and how it compares with other facial services.
Your goals guide the conversation
Fine facial hair
Discuss unwanted peach fuzz and whether dermaplaning is the right approach for the hair you want removed.
Surface texture
Talk about dullness or a rough feel and explore how exfoliation might fit into your skincare routine.
Personalized care
Review your skin history, current products, and previous treatments before choosing your next step.
Know what to expect
Before your appointment: Share your goals, medical history, medications, and any recent skin procedures. Ask what to do with your usual skincare routine before treatment.
During your visit: Confirm the areas included, the proposed method, comfort expectations, and the cost before treatment begins.
After your visit: Request clear instructions for cleansing, moisturizing, sun protection, makeup, and restarting exfoliating or active products.
Good skincare starts with suitability
Temporary redness, tenderness, swelling, or irritation may occur. Infection, scarring, and skin color changes are possible risks. Discuss active acne, cold sores, eczema, psoriasis, rashes, or other skin concerns before treatment.
Tell the team about previous reactions and the products you use. If your skin is irritated or you have a changing skin spot, ask for an appropriate evaluation before a cosmetic procedure.
Dermaplaning questions
Is the hair removal permanent?
No. Dermaplaning removes hair at the surface, so regrowth is expected. Ask which options best match your hair-removal goals.
Will my facial hair grow back thicker?
Shaving does not change the hair follicle or make hair grow back thicker. Dermaplaning is intended for fine facial hair; discuss coarse or changing hair growth separately.
Can I combine it with another facial treatment?
Ask the team before combining services. The decision should account for your skin’s condition and the extra irritation or recovery a combination could involve.
How often should I book?
Request a recommendation based on your skin response, hair regrowth, and goals. Confirm an appropriate interval rather than assuming a fixed schedule suits everyone.
Can I book before a special event?
Discuss the timing, especially for your first visit. Allow for possible irritation and ask when makeup and your usual routine can resume.
What is the price, and where is my appointment?
Contact the team for current pricing and availability. Dermaplaning is part of our new spa services; confirm your appointment location before arriving.
